"It's like wanting a meatball sub and you're eating it and saying man this sub is really good then you get to the end and there's a lump of cold tuna fish. I mean I don't
mind tuna fish, but god dammit I wasn't expecting it" ~ Paraphrased: James Kennedy
I'm a sucker for love stories in anime but most of the time I find that most of them have glaring flaws like taking too long to get to the point (Ai Aori Aioshi), the violent lead girl who loves the
man (Love Hina, Girls Bravo), pandering (Kashimashi the we're not really lesbian lesbian anime) or they have poor taste in love interests (Koi Kaze: the incest anime).
But for 10 episodes
Akaneiro ni Somaru Saka (From here on in referred to as ANSS) is a good harem anime without having more than one girl (Yuuhi) really vying for the main guy (Jun'ichi).
So what's the problem?
They slowly let the romance between Yuuhi and Jun'ichi brew for close to 8 episodes of a 12 episode series, and in episode 10 they finally confess for each other and all should be good..right? But no
Jun'ichi's sister (Minato) has feelings and decides to confess them when Yuuhi goes back to report to her father about Jun. It's ludicrous and at multiple points in the anime other people look at them (Jun and Minato)
looking at each other LIKE BLOOD SIBLINGS SHOULDN'T and Jun fantasizes about Minato/ogles her in a swimsuit/etc. and those creeping feelings that I got when I watched Koi Kaze and Kashimashi
came back to me and I thought surely Japan couldn't be this fucked up, but then I remembered hentai and yes, they could be.
So guess what? I'm not going to let you get the last laugh on me Japan, in true decoy fashion I wikipedia'd and got warned about the last two episodes and I'm not going to watch them.

BUT I WILL POST THE SUMMARY BELOW
The next evening Yuuhi leaves to report back to her family leaving
Jun'ichi and Minato alone. Minato uses this chance to express her
feelings for her brother and Jun'ichi is still unsure how he feels for
his sister.
YOU SHOULD FEEL NOTHING FOR YOUR SISTER ESPECIALLY IN YOUR GROIN GOD
Yuuhi meets with her father and rejects her engagement to Jun'ichi,
saying she'd rather decide for herself without external pressures. Upon
her return Yuuhi senses some weirdness she can't place in the Nagase
home, but neither Minato nor Jun'ichi are willing to admit anything.
This causes a rift between Yuuhi and Jun'ichi, which everyone at school
notices. When confronted about the apparent rift between the two Yuuhi
lies to cover up the true nature of the situation. After school
Jun'ichi is wisked away to meet his parents, who have suddenly returned
to the country, leaving Yuuhi and Minato alone at home for the evening.
After dinner Yuuhi reveals to Minato her intention to leave the Nagase
house, the nullified engagement and her hurt at being lied to. Minato
finally admits her love for Jun'ichi and her heartache regarding the
situation and Yuuhi hugs her.
WHAT and if your boyfriend's sister admitted to wanting to ride his baloney pony you sure as fuck wouldn't hug him, you would beat the shit out of him and her and
leave with him in tow taking him far away from the situation and then look back on it and laugh years down the road "Man remember when my sister confessed wasn't that funny"
and you're living a normal life GOD WHY IS THIS SO HARD FOR YOU JAPAN
After Jun'ichi came back home after meeting his parents, Yuuhi was so
angry over Jun'ichi lying to her that she decided to break up with him
and leave the house that night. The next day, Minato left the house as
well in order for Jun'ichi to make a decision between her and Yuuhi.
When Jun'ichi got back home from school, he started thinking about the
moment Minato came back from training and decided to take care of him a
few years ago. Mr. Sugishita suddenly appeared to tell Jun'ichi to
become a man and be true to himself, after taking him to the beach.
Meanwhile, Yuuhi decided to stay at Karen's place and Minato stayed
with Nagomi. When Jun'ichi got back to the house, he felt lonely and
thought about his past and the girl he loves most, by the help of an
imaginery Geno-killer, his past self before Minato arrived. With the
help of his past self he finally became one with his alter-ego, and
Jun'ichi confessed his love to Minato.
WHAT WHAT WHAT GOD DAMMIT STOP
the most horrible thing about this is all the charachters sans one all go "Good for them :D" "At least they're happy now :D" and god am I glad I didn't watch these two episodes to see it play
out because I would be pissed that I wasted 46 minutes of my life to get pissed off and instead spent time writing this out as a word of warning to NOT watch episodes 11 and 12.
Arbitrary Rating for episodes 1-10: Pretty good and not as irritating as Tenchi Muyo/Love Hina could be
Rating for episodes 11 and 12: Even Koi Kaze won't sit with you at lunch you're that fucked up
